Editorial policy

What we publish, where our facts come from, and what happens when we get something wrong.

Sources come first

We build every tool and guide from primary sources: the text of the Income-tax Act, 2025 and the Income-tax Rules, 2026; CBDT notifications and circulars; RBI master directions, circulars and FAQs; FEMA regulations; and the double taxation avoidance agreements published by the Income Tax Department. Where a primary source is not available online, we use reputable secondary sources, such as national business newspapers or professional bodies, and name them.

Each guide lists its sources at the end. Each tool shows the date its rules were last checked and links to the rulebook it uses.

How pages are made

We use AI tools to help with research and first drafts. No page is published on that basis alone. The editor, Ashwani Kumar Srivastava, checks every figure, date, section number and form number against the official source, rewrites where needed, and approves the page before it goes live. Calculator logic is tested against worked examples before release.

What we do not do

  • We do not give personal tax, legal or investment advice, and we do not recommend specific investments.
  • We do not accept payment for coverage or for placing a bank or service in a tool's result.
  • We do not publish rumours or unconfirmed proposals as if they were law. Budget announcements are described as proposals until they are enacted or notified.

Keeping pages current

We review the rulebook after each Union Budget, after each Finance Act, and whenever the CBDT or RBI issues a change that affects NRIs. The "updated" date on a guide changes only when its substance changes.

Corrections

If you find an error, write to contact@asknriguru.com with the page and the source that shows the correct position. We aim to check reports within three working days. When we correct a substantive error, we update the page date and add a short note at the end of the page saying what changed.

Advertising

The site is funded by advertising served by Google AdSense. Ads are shown separately from editorial content and are labelled by Google. Advertisers do not see or influence our content before it is published.
